Cambridge Assessment International Educational accredited High School, Steam International is an international school where Cambridge certifications are taken, recognized by the best universities in the world and considered by employers as a valid certification of skills.
The study programmes help develop an extensive knowledge of the subjects and individual thinking skills. The programmes of the scientific subjects Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths are the result of the matching between the National Study Plans (of the Scientific High School-applied sciences option) and the Cambridge English Syllabus, that is, the Cambridge programmes (Syllabus): up to 50% of them are taught in English, since they will be the subject of examination for IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) certification and also for any A-Level exams. Some humanities such as History, Global perspectives, Arts and Design are inspired by or drawn directly from the Cambridge Syllabuses and are taught in English in a gradual, “soft” approach, using English up to a maximum of 50%.
Other humanities and scientific subjects (e.g., Performing, Sport, Technology and Engineering) are occasionally taught in English, in specific modules.
English language involves 5/6 hours per week. At the end of the second year, students will take the IGCSE English as a second language certification exam, level B2/C1; during the third year, they will take the IGCSE Maths and Science Combined certifications.
At the end of the third year, students will be able to take the IELTS, CAE or TOEFL certification, useful for certifying English language proficiency at an academic level and for access to foreign universities.
Also starting from the third year, students can be prepared for the A levels of Maths and Science (Chemistry – Biology -Physics).
